Reporting Violations

The Office of Student Conduct & Academic Integrity is responsible for student discipline only, therefore:

  • Charges against a faculty member (including an academic department chair) shall be filed with the academic dean of the accused faculty member.
  • Charges against a classified or hourly employee shall be filed with the assistant vice president for human resources.
  • Charges against an administrator shall be filed with the appropriate vice president or provost.
  • Charges against an administrator reporting to the president shall be filed with the president.

The majority of alleged infractions of the Virginia Commonwealth University Rules and Procedures will be documented via an incident report completed by an RA/CA or a student security staff member, or by the VCU Police in a summary notification form, and forwarded to this office.

However, any member of the University community may bring FORMAL CHARGES against any other members of the University community.  Such charges must be in writing and in order to be considered, a charge must be brought within two years of the incident for which the charge is being brought.  Charges against students shall be filed with the dean of student affairs:
