Please encourage your son or daughter to:

• Consult with the professor or instructor regarding a specific concern or question
• Enroll in UNIV 101; The VCU Honor System will be discussed and reviewed
• Enroll in ENGL 200
• Utilize the University Writing Center 
• Utilize the Campus Learning Center
• Review items with their thesis or dissertation advisor
• Attend VCU Libraries, Cabell Library Workshops

Students should also be encouraged to:

• Utilize a planner
• Budget their time wisely
• Attend and participate in class
• Utilize review sessions or faculty office hours
• Be a self-advocate
• Prepare for quizzes & exams
• Learn how to properly utilize & site scholarly sources

Before lying, cheating or plagiarizing, consider alternatives:

• Request an extension
• If the professor allows a student to drop one assignment, or quiz, take advantage of this
• Withdraw from the course
• Take an incomplete
• Take a leave of absence
• Do the best you can; re-take the class if necessary
