Clinical Services

Primary Care

Primary care includes diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, health promotion, disease prevention, health maintenance, and patient education. Primary care is performed and managed by a health care professional and referrals are made to outside providers or specialists as appropriate.

At both the Monroe Park Campus Clinic and the MCV Campus Clinic students are seen by appointment, but true emergencies are always given priority.

See our Appointments section to learn how to schedule an appointment at USHS.

3. Vaginal infection evaluation and treatment

4.  Menstrual disorder evaluation: treatment and/or referral

5. Contraception education and prescription: we offer combined hormone birth control pills, progestin only birth control pills, NuvaRing, Ortho Evra contraceptive patch, and Depo Provera.

We can refer you to the community for IUD’s, Implanon, and diaphragms

Appointments are required.  Due to the high demand, plan to schedule well woman exams at least two to three weeks in advance.  In the event you miss two well woman exams during a semester, we will be unable to reschedule until the following semester. Do not schedule well woman exams, or STI screening during your menses as this could affect results.

Immunization Clinic

VCU, in compliance with Virginia state law, requires all full-time students to submit immunization records to USHS. An extensive variety of immunizations are available to students at USHS.

See our Immunizations section for detailed information on requirements, pricing and walk-in vaccine administration hours.

Allergy Shots

VCU students who have started an allergy desensitization program (allergy shots) with an allergist can have their injections administered at the USHS Allergy Clinic. Students must supply the allergy serum and detailed instructions from their allergist.

USHS does not offer allergy testing.

Travel Clinic

USHS offers in-depth pre-travel consultation with a health care provider as well as many of the required vaccinations. Additionally, prescriptions for recommended medications as well as suggestions for safer travel are provided.
