COVID-19 Vaccines

Student Health strongly encourages students to be up-to-date with their COVID vaccinationVaccines provide protection against severe infections, COVID hospitalizations, and complications, such as long COVID.  Vaccination also helps to protect others, especially the most vulnerable members of our community.

The updated 2023 COVID-19 booster is now available in the community.  Contact your local pharmacy or search www.vaccines.gov to find vaccine near you.

  • You are eligible to receive the COVID-19 booster if it has been at least 2 months since you completed your primary COVID-19 vaccine series or booster dose(s).  If you are recovering from COVID-19, you are advised to wait until you are released from isolation and symptoms have completely resolved before getting vaccinated.  If you are a COVID-19 contact, please wait until it has been at least 10 days since the last exposure to get vaccinated.
  • Please bring your COVID-19 vaccine card to your appointment.  It's a good idea to take a photo of both sides of your vaccine card for back-up.  If you've lost your card and don't have photos, you can look up your vaccine record at www.vaccinate.virginia.gov or through your state health department’s immunization information system.  You can also contact 877-VAX-IN-VA (877-823-4628) for assistance.
Gardasil (HPV) Vaccines

The human papillomavirus or HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection.  HPV infections can lead to genital warts or certain cancers, including cervical cancer and anal cancer.  Protect yourself by completing the Gardasil (HPV) vaccine series (3 shots over 6 months).  Find out if you are eligible for free or discounted Gardasil vaccine by asking your provider during a clinic visit, scheduling an immunization appointment, or calling our Immunizations Department at 804-827-8047.
