Clinical Services

Primary Care

Primary care includes diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, health promotion, disease prevention, health maintenance, and patient education. Primary care is performed and managed by a health care professional and referrals are made to outside providers or specialists as appropriate.

At both the Monroe Park Campus Clinic and the MCV Campus Clinic students are seen by appointment, but true emergencies are always given priority.

See our Appointments section to learn how to schedule an appointment at USHS.

Women's Health

Routine women's health annual exams include pelvic PAP smears, breast exams and sexually transmitted infection (STI) screening as appropriate and upon request.

We offer contraceptive guidance and pregnancy counseling as well as evaluation and treatment for many common women's health issues such as sexually transmitted infections (STI), vaginal infections, and urinary tract infections. Providers will refer patients to appropriate community resources for services not available at USHS.

Appointments are required. In the event that you miss two PAP smear appointments during a semester, we will be unable to reschedule your annual PAP smear until the following semester.

Due to high demand, please call to schedule routine annual exams at least two to three weeks in advance.

An online women's health class is available at www.arhp.org. From this website, find Interactive Tools and choose the link Choosing a Birth Control Method. If you choose to take the online course, please print your resulting profile and bring it to your appointment.

Immunization Clinic

VCU, in compliance with Virginia state law, requires all full-time students to submit immunization records to USHS. An extensive variety of immunizations are available to students at USHS.

See our Immunizations section for detailed information on requirements, pricing and walk-in vaccine administration hours.

Allergy Shots

VCU students who have started an allergy desensitization program (allergy shots) with an allergist can have their injections administered at the USHS Allergy Clinic. Students must supply the allergy serum and detailed instructions from their allergist.

USHS does not offer allergy testing.

Travel Clinic

USHS offers in-depth pre-travel consultation with a health care provider as well as many of the required vaccinations. Additionally, prescriptions for recommended medications as well as suggestions for safer travel are provided.

See our Travel Clinic section for detailed information on travel appointments.
