  • Find and get to know one individual on campus who knows you are there and who cares about your survival.
  • Learn what helping resources your campus offers and where they are located.
  • Understand why you are in college.
  • Set up a daily schedule and stick to it.
  • If you're attending classes full-time (12-15 hours per semester), don~t work more than 20
    hours a week.
  • Assess and improve your study habits.
  • Choose professors who involve you in the learning process.
  • Know how to use your campus library.
  • Improve your writing.
  • Develop critical thinking skills.
  • Find a great academic advisor and fight to keep him or her.
  • Visit the career center.
  • Make one or two close friends among your peers.
  • If you are not assertive, take assertiveness training.
  • Get involved in campus activity.
  • Take your health seriously.
  • If you can't avoid stress, learn how to live with it.
  • Show up at class.
  • Remember that you are not alone.
  • Learn to appreciate yourself more.
  • Try to have realistic expectations.
