Find and get to know one individual on campus who knows you are there and who cares
about your survival.
- Learn what helping resources your campus offers and where they are located.
- Understand why you are in college.
- Set up a daily schedule and stick to it.
- If you're attending classes full-time (12-15 hours per semester), don~t work more than 20
hours a week.
- Assess and improve your study habits.
- Choose professors who involve you in the learning process.
- Know how to use your campus library.
- Improve your writing.
- Develop critical thinking skills.
- Find a great academic advisor and fight to keep him or her.
- Visit the career center.
- Make one or two close friends among your peers.
- If you are not assertive, take assertiveness training.
- Get involved in campus activity.
- Take your health seriously.
- If you can't avoid stress, learn how to live with it.
- Show up at class.
- Remember that you are not alone.
- Learn to appreciate yourself more.
- Try to have realistic expectations.
