VCU — Renovations and New Construction

MCV Campus Recreation & Aquatic Center

The MCV Campus Recreation & Aquatic Center is currently undergoing preparations for the Recreational Sports Renovation Project.

The entrances to the MCV Campus Recreation & Aquatic Center are being relocated due to construction. The gym entrance will be located at the front of the gym/fitness center on Turpin Street close to 10th Street. The pool entrance will be located on Duvall Street.

In the near future, there will be an entrance for the Aquatic Center, and a separate entrance directly into the Gymnasium. The Gym will house the relocated fitness center, court space, administrative offices and locker rooms. The men's faculty locker room will be closed during the renovation, and updates related to that closing will be posted later. We appreciate your patience while we upgrade our facilities.

Beginning Saturday, April 5, the entrances to the MCV Campus Recreation & Aquatic Center will be relocated due to construction. The gym entrance will be located at the front of the gym/fitness center on Turpin Street close to 10th Street. The pool entrance will be located on Duvall Street.

Please note: Turpin Street between 9th and 10th Streets will be closed effective March 17 until completion of the Larrick Student Center/MCV Campus Recreation & Aquatic Center construction project in Summer 2009. North 9th Street will become a two-way street.

All locations will be accepting the VCU Dining Services MCV Campus Meal Exchange program beginning on January 7, 2008. Please also consider locations on the Monroe Park Campus accessible by the VCU Campus Connector every 10 minutes.

Cary Street Gym

The Cary Street Gym is now closed for renovation/new construction.

Renovation will begin in early 2008, and you can look forward to an expanded and upgraded facility in Spring 2010.

During construction, Cary Street Field will remain open for Intramurals, Club Sports, informal recreation and athletics. Informal Basketball, Volleyball and Indoor Intramural activities will relocate to Siegel Center. Fitness equipment will be relocated to Siegel Center, and the Outdoor Adventure Program/Outing Rental Center will be housed in a temporary site on Cary Street Field.

The Cary Street Recreation Complex Basketball Courts will close April 14. They will be replaced by a new outdoor basketball court that will be accessed off of the Cary Street Field. The completion date is scheduled for mid-June 2008.
