Prospective Federal Work-Study Employers

The Federal Work-Study Program (FWS) is an employment and need-based program subsidized by the federal government that allows students to earn wages in special student employment positions.

Employers have an excellent opportunity to hire work-study students and realize a cost saving. The federal government pays a portion of the student’s hourly wage, while your organization pays a smaller portion. For the 2009-2010 academic year, the ratio is 75% paid by the federal government, 25% paid by the employer. Students who demonstrate financial need and receive this award may work and earn up to the full amount of the award.

Recruitment for the each academic year typically begins in late summer through the early weeks of the fall semester. Employers may post opportunities during the spring semester as well.
